Many post-war Richfield residents had dirt or gravel roads running past their homes, as street contstruction struggled to keep up with the building boom. They referred to 78th Street (running from the lower right corner diagonally to center left in this 1965 aerial view) and Lyndale Avenue (crossing from the lower left corner to the center right) as the "paved" streets in their community.
