For servicemen and women during World War II writing letters was the only practical way to keep in touch with family and friends back home.
Anne Bosanko Green chronicled her experiences while stationed stateside through frequent letters to her parents and brother in Minneapolis. This letter, dated October 4, 1944, was written shortly after Anne arrived at Fort Des Moines, Iowa for Women's Army Corps basic training.
