Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Firefighter's backpack

This five-gallon, hand-operated fire extinguisher was worn like a backpack. CCCers working in forest camps carried extinguishers in their complement of fire-prevention and firefighting equipment. As indicated by its painted stenciling, this particular fire extinguisher was used by the Minnesota Forest Service sometime after the CCC program ceased.
