The first class to graduate from the University of Minnesota's Veterinary College consisted mainly of returning G.I.s. The two students who spearheaded the movement to lobby for the new school were Glen Nelson and Ithel Schipper. Their efforts, supported by the State Legislature, left a legacy that endures. Today, the University of Minnesota Veterinary School is one of the top such schools in the country, with state-of-the-art facilities and respected faculty.
