Elizabeth (B.J.) Hughes Gersey completed her training as a Radioman at the Radio School for Enlisted Women at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in January 1943, and the commencement ceremony was held on January 27th. B.J. was among the first group of 500 women to complete the training at Madison.
This commencement program lists Elizabeth Hughes as one of several Honor Graduates. She noted inside the program that she received her first rate, Radioman 3rd Class, and would receive an increased salary of $76 per month.
