Minnesota's Greatest Generation

The Cousins family home, 6108 Vincent Avenue South, Minneapolis

When the Cousins family moved to Minnesota from Florida, it was just Tom, his wife Rose Marie, and their son Danny. The family found a small house on Vincent Avenue that seemed just right, but by 1958 the couple had four children and were seeking a bigger house. As Tom described the situation, the house "was beginning to bulge under the strain of four extremely active little boys."

In their 1959 Christmas letter the Cousins family reported a move to the "ideal home" on West 52nd Street, extolling the virtues of the four-bedroom home with "plenty of living area". Just nine years later their growing family needed an even bigger house, and the family moved to again, this time just three blocks away to a house on 61st and Vincent Avenue South.

This photo shows the first home the Cousins owned in Minneapolis.
