Minnesota's Greatest Generation

"Dachau" sculpture, 1970.

Bronze sculpture, "Dachau," by William N. Cardozo. The sculpture depicts an emaciated male prisoner of war with bald head (or clipped hair), knee-length coat with collar, pants, & shoes with up-turned toes, on a rectangular medium wood base.

Merchant and businessman, William Cardozo (1904-1990) didn't take up sculpture until his retirement in the 1970s. Largely self-taught, Cardozo was a great admirer of Minnesota sculptor Paul Granlund.
