Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Tom, Mary and Sally Day, ca. 1949

The post-war "Baby Boom" helped to spur on the building boom in Twin City first-ring suburbs. The Whittier and Emily Day had three children by 1949, and felt a pressing need to find a larger home. They found just what they wanted in Richfield: a comfortable house with a large yard.

This photograph, taken about 1949, shows Tom, Mary and Sally Day enjoying a book before bedtime.
