Social worker Emily West met her husband, Whittier Day, while working at Camp Kitchi Kahniss in Aitkin County with residents from the Elliot Park Neighborhood House in Minneapolis. Mr. Day was head of the Big Brothers camping program. The couple was married in 1944.
