Bill Cameron and friends, ready to leave for active duty, 1944

Bill Cameron, the son of a World War I veteran, made the decision to "join up" before he graduated from high school in 1944. He attended college at Brookings, SD for a few months that fall before being called to active duty in October. While at Brookings, he received some military training in addition to his pre-veterinary course work.

This photograph was taken just before Bill left home for active service.
