The St. Paul (or "farm") campus of the University of Minnesota began with the purchase of land southeast of Minneapolis in 1868 for the location of a School of Agriculture. The school and agricultural experiment station was moved to it's present location in St. Anthony Park in 1888, at which time it offered a two year prctical course in animal husbandry and veterinary science.

This aerial view shows the St. Paul Campus as it looked about 1940.
