Firefighting and fire prevention were an important tasks for the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps. The drought years of the 1930s left Minnesota's forests extremely vulnerable to fire. The firefighters shown here are using hand tools and a firehose to put out a blaze in northern Minnesota.
