The First National Bank of Minneapolis was organized on December 12, 1864. It merged with the First Minneapolis Trust Company in 1933 to form the First National Bank and Trust Company. The company successfully weathered the Great Depression, with deposits growing from $97,337,242 in 1930 to $149,993,000 in 1939. This photograph shows the bank as it looked in 1936.
