Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Television sets were one of the most sought-after appliances of the 1950s. Unlike today's large-screen, full-color, digital TVs, early black-and-white sets had tiny screens set into a large wooden console, like the set pictured here. The television set would take pride of place in the family's living room, where they would gather to watch their favorite shows.
