Honeycombed cargo floor for a CG-4A glider

All components of the CG-4A gliders were designed to be lightweight yet strong. This photograph shows the floor construction honeycombed inside with 216 individual cells, and covered with a thin mahogany veneer. Measuring 13 feet 6 inches by 6 feet 2 inches and weighing just 300 pounds when completed, the flooring had the strength to support thirteen full-equipped troopers, a jeep, or a howitzer gun.
