Natural gas pipelines were laid in many suburban neighborhoods in the 1950s, like the one shown in this 1957 photograph of a street in Rosemount. The gas company worked hard to educate residents about the economy and convenience of using gas appliances through cooking schools and other promotions, and stores like Dayton's carried a variety of household eqiupment that used gas.
