Soldier John S. Sonnen had more than just his "girl back home" to miss during his two years away from home. He and his wife, Georgiana, had a son, Stuart, who was 18 months old at the time of John's enlistment.
This photograph of Georgiana and Stuart, taken in 1943, was carried by John throughout his Army career as a gentle reminder of his loved ones "back home."
