CG-4A glider & 2 glider pilots, ready for action, 1944

Glider pilots referred to their aircraft as "flying coffins" because of the danger involved in flying them. These two CG-4A glider pilots look confidently into the camera as they prepare for the invasion of southern France in August, 1944.

C-47 pilot, Robert T. Carr, was assigned to pull a glider into combat on that mission.
