Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Joe Greenstein's grocery store in North Minneapolis

When Joe Greenstein was called into service, he was already an established businessman on Minneapolis' North Side. Joe returned to his grocery store after the war, and it continued to serve the neighborhood until the building was demolished for freeway construction in the 1960s. This photograph shows the Greenstein Grocery as it looked before the war.
