As the Freemans became more deeply involved in state politics, their friendships grew with families like the Humphreys, pictured here. Hubert H. Humphrey rose from Mayor of Minneapolis to Senator for the State of Minnesota, to Vice President of the United States. The Freemans actively campaigned for Humphrey, and Jane Freeman and Muriel Humphrey became very close friends.
