Fort Snelling was the first stop for inductees into the military in Minnesota during World War II. New recruits were given physical examinations, aptitude tests, and were issued uniforms in preparation for trasnfer to basic training camps. The group of young men shown here were on their way to the Fort when this picture was taken in 1942.
