Minnesota's Greatest Generation

"Jack Armstrong" radio show premium toy telescope

In 1933, Minnesota's General Mills conceived of the adventure radio program "Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy." In weekly 15-minute episodes, the All-American Boy tackled timely adventures and also encouraged kids to eat General Mills' Wheaties, the "Breakfast of Champions." To attract children, General Mills offered toys (called premiums) that were received in exchange for cereal box tops. This telescope is one such example.
