Jane Shields was just 16 years old when she entered the University of Minnesota in the fall of 1937. While a student, Jane participated in campus government, sorority activities, and worked on the staff of the Minnesota Daily. She graduated in 1941, and went on to begin graduate study toward a degree in public administration.
