Minnesota's Greatest Generation

The Korean War Veterans Memorial, Washington, DC.

The Korean War Memorial was dedicated in 1995 to honor the 1.5 million Americans who served in the Korean War. The memorial features 19 ghostly figures representing American soldiers slogging through the Korean countryside. The faces of 2400 unidentified soldiers stare out from a granite wall nearby with the inscription, "Freedom is not free." The Pool of Remembrance honors American troops killed, wounded, or missing in action during that conflict.
