Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Irene Levin, Yeoman 3rd Class, Stillwater, OK, 1944.

Irene Levin received her WAVES Yeoman training on the campus of Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1944. This photograph shows Irene in her uniform in front of Willard Hall, where the WAVES recruits mustered to go to classes. She sent this photograph to her husband, Sid, who was stationed in England. On the back she joked: "How do you like my new hat? It's the latest fad around here."
