When a military couple wanted to marry, they had to wade through a certain amount of red tape. Jon J. Gersey had to request a special liberty (shown here) to take time off from his post at Cocoa Beach, Florida to marry his sweetheart, Elizabeth (B.J.) Hughes. The couple met at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida, but Jon was transferred to Cocoa Beach soon after their engagement, according to Navy regulations, as husbands and wives were not permitted to work together.
