When Minnesota native Charles Lindbergh made his historic trans-Atlantic flight to Paris on May 20-21, 1927, boys across America fell in love with the idea of flight. Many of those boys were inspired to become pilots during World War II, and flew countless successful missions in bombers and fighter planes. Some went on to post-war careers with commercial airlines.
