Matthew Little joined the Minneapolis chapter of NAACP with a view to helping to expand opportunities for other African Americans after he was refused a job with the city's fire department. Mr. Little was recognized by the Minneapolis African American Professional Firefighter's Association on February 9, 1995 with an honorary membership for his work with the NAACP that made it possible for African Americans to become professional firemen.
