Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Lunch time during threshing

The hard work of threshing brought on big appetites. In addition to the bountiful breakfasts, lunches and dinners provided by the women of the family, between-meal "lunches" were also prepared and sent to the field, with children often serving as the couriers. The two men pictured here are enjoying a well earned lunch break. Note the large enamel coffee pot on the left, and the picnic basket for carrying the food.
