William L. Anderson of Minneapolis shared many of his overseas experiences with his family through letters. This letter, written from Tunisia, North Africa on July 18, 1943, tells of an unusual moment of comraderie among the men of his unit brought on by a recording of "When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain," sung by Kate Smith.
