Minnesota's Greatest Generation

NPS and Minnesota State Park Emergency Conservation Work

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was created by the Emergency Conservation Work (ECW) Act in 1933 as a way to provide employment for young men. CCC camps were established in state and national parks across Minnesota to make improvements to the forests, roads, and visitor's amenities. This map, drawn in 1934, shows the locations of parks in the state that were benefiting from Emergency Conservation Work.
