Peaveys and cant hooks are essentially the same tool used to handle logs. The differences are in their tips. The peavey shown here has a sharp spike protruding beyond that point where the blunt tip and adjustable hook would line up evenly. Although the spike could damage logs, it increased control when rolling logs from place to place.
