Members of Minnesota's Greatest Generation broke new ground in many career fields. Hospital Administrator Carl Platou discovered a new way to fund the expansion of medical care into the suburbs by creating a hospital holding company in the 1950s, which enabled Fairview Hospital to build a new facility in Edina. Today, the Fairview system operates seven hospitals, fifty primary care clinics, thirty-seven specialty clinics, five urgent care clinics and a wide range of specialty service centers across Minnesota.
