Western Union Telegrams sent to Don Frederick's mother, 1943

The arrival of a telegram from the War Department was dreaded by families with loved ones serving in World War II. Mrs. Alta K. Frederick was apprised by telegram of her son, Don's, status as missing in action on December 4, 1943. Don's family did know of his capture until the War Department sent a second telegram on January 5, 1944.
