Dr. Reuben Berman administered physical exams to military inductees before receiving his own draft notice on July 1, 1941. He was sent overseas in June 1943, where he served as an Army physician until September 1945. He posed in uniform for formal portraits at the Gene Garrett studio in Minneapolis in 1948.
