Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Richfield High School at the end of the school day, 1958

The rapid growth of the suburb of Richfield created a desperate need for more classroom space. The city was without its own high school until 1955, and early residents remember hiking across fields to attend high school in Minneapolis.

This 1958 photograph shows the new high school as a vibrant center of student activity.
