Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Mary, Sally and Tom Day with sand pails, ready for the beach

Minnesota kids have long treasured visits to a nearby lake to cool off on hot summer days. The Day children of Richfield were no different. Emily Day recalled taking her children to the beaches at Minneapolis lakes before Richfield had a pool of its own.

Mary, Sally and Tom Day were photographed in their Richfield yard with sand pails in hand, ready for the beach, about 1949.
