Martha Kufner, 1944

Martha (Marge) Kufner Schmaltz began to work for Northwest Airlines in 1942, where her job was to check out tools to workers in the B-24 bomber modification plant at Holman Field. The following year she applied for another defense job with Northwest Aeronautics at Minnehaha and Prior Avenues in St. Paul, where she worked on the production line helping to build gliders. Marge left in May 1944 to begin training for Marine Corps service.
