Edward Sovik, the son of Lutheran missionary parents, was born in 1918 in Zhongxiang, China. In 1935 Ed’s parents returned to Minnesota. He completed his Lutheran Seminary in 1941 before enlisting in the US Marine Corps. This picture was taken while Ed was going through flight training at Pensacola, Florida in 1942.
