Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Edmond Sworsky (center) while in the Civilian Conservation Corps

Like many young men during the Great Depression, Edmond Sworsky signed on with the Civilian Conservation Corps to help ease the economic situation for his family. He was sent to the Squaw Lake Camp and spent two years in the Chippewa National Forest.

Mr. Sworsky is pictured here with two of his fellow workers, braving -50 degree temperatures.
