Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Mrs. Evelyn Graupman, kindergarten teacher, telling a story

Teaching was a traditional career option for women in the 1950s and, with the rapid rise in births post-war and explosion in school construction, teaching jobs were plentiful as the "Baby Boomers" began to attend school.

Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Evelyn Graupman is shown telling a story to her class at Gibbs School in Falcon Heights in this 1959 photograph.
