Wartime shortages prompted the federal government to implement a rationing program to ensure that all would get their fair share. As the war progressed, new items were added to the ration list, and consumers had to adjust to changes in the program.
This poster explained how to use red and blue ration tokens, which were given as "change" for ration stamps, and could be used to supplement stamps to pay for rationed goods.
