Company 5, 3rd Regiment, Fort Des Moines, Iowa

Women who joined the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (later Women's Army Corps) from Minnesota were most often sent to Fort Des Moines, Iowa for basic training. This photograph shows a company upon completion of their training. From Fort Des Moines, these women were sent on to other facilities for more specialized training before assuming official Army duties.
