North Minneapolis grocer Joe Greenstein served in the Army in Europe during World War II. While in Germany with Patton's Third Army in 1945, he met a pretty young refugee from Poland, Maria Kruk, and the two fell in love at first sight. Joe was able to arrange for Maria to come to the United States and, in 1947, the couple were married.
