U.S.S. Ward, DD139

The U.S.S. Ward, with many sailors from St. Paul on its crew, had the distinction of firing the first American shots of World War II while patrolling just outside Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

This painting, done in oil on board by A.B. Chesley, was a gift to the Minnesota Historical Society by the First Shot Naval Veterans.
