Elizabeth (B.J.) Hughes Gersey was among the first class of Navy WAVES to be sent to radio school for training. She is pictured here (top, right) with other enlistees as they board the train that will take them to Madison, Wisconsin to begin their training.
B.J. achieved the rate of Radioman First Class during her service in the Navy, and served at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida. She was honorably discharged in August 1945.
