Among the 72 stores available to shoppers when Southdale Center first opened was a large Woolworth's store, which offered a variety of goods and services, including a pharmacy and lunch counter. This photograph shows shoppers at the courtyard entrance to the store inside Southdale shortly after it opened in 1956.
