Minnesota's Greatest Generation

Exterior of the Y.M.C.A. building, 30 South Ninth, Minneapolis

When Matthew Little came to Minneapolis in 1948, he had no idea of what to expect. With no place to live, he stayed at the Y.M.C.A. (Young Men's Christian Association) in downtown Minneapolis for four days before finding a more permanent home.

This photograph shows the Y.M.C.A. building as it looked in 1937. The building remains a part of the Minneapolis downtown district today.
